White Sox decline to tender contracts to 4 players for 2018

The White Sox declined to tender 2018 contracts to four players Friday, including right-handed pitchers Al Alburquerque, Jake Petricka and Zach Putnam and infielder Alen Hanson.

Those players are now free agents.

The Sox also announced they signed right-hander Danny Farquhar to a one-year, $1.05-million contract.

Jose Abreu, Carlos Rodon, Leury Garcia, Avisail Garcia and Yolmer Sanchez all remain arbitration eligible.

The Sox’s 40-man roster now stands at 36.
