Illinois adds two more commitments to 2018 recruiting class

Illinois has received two oral commitments in the last two days for its 2018 recruiting class, adding unrated wide receiver Edwin Carter on Monday and three-star defensive back Delano Ware on Sunday.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Ware, from El Cerrito, Calif., flipped his commitment from Nevada after taking an official visit to Champaign over the weekend.

Carter, a 6-3, 180-pounder from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Fla., also had offers from Middle Tennessee, Western Illinois and Mercer. He could help fill the void left by receiver Malik Turner’s graduation.

The Illini now have 16 commitments for the Class of 2018, including graduate transfer receiver Shaedon Meadors from Appalachian State. College football’s first early signing period is Dec. 20-22.
