The Lake County Council has lent its support to efforts to save the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
The council voted 4-2 Dec. 12 to approve a resolution that seeks comprehensive immigration reform and supports the DACA program, but also condemns the president for rescinding the program. That drew opposition from the board's two Republican members.
"It's just us sending a message that we'd like them to continue the program," said Councilwoman Christine Cid, who introduced the resolution. "It's just encouraging (them) to move forward."
